Many day trip ideas

We grew up in this part of the world so we have a good knowledge of the region, its history, its stories. And there are plenty of stories.

Wildlife

Every early evenings the rufous bettongs (or rufous rat kangaroos) come into the camp. They will be a highlight of your visit here. Birds that visit us include Blue-faced Honeyeaters, Butcher Birds, Magpies, Galahs, Currawongs, Northern Kookaburras, and more.

Historical artefacts

Shane and Helen have been enthusiastic collectors of historical artefacts for many years and they now have the perfect location to show it all off. Bits and pieces from the past, some you will recognise and some you wont, decorate every aspect of the park.

The train

The savannah explorer passes through Petford on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Visit the track just metres away and give them a wave.

Emu creek

Emu Creek nearby has many beautiful areas for visiting and picnicking. An historical marker shows where Edmund Kennedy passed through here on his failed expedition from Rockingham Bay (near Mission Beach) to the tip of Cape York.

Nearby

We are located centrally to a region filled with historical and geological interest. You can stay here and do day-trips to a variety of interesting places in all directions. Visit ‘Our Location‘ for more information.
