Helen and Shane first met while in primary school at the Edge Hill Primary School in Cairns.
That was a life-time ago.
While raising a family they have lived and worked their entire life in Far North Queensland – Shane in a variety of trades (butcher, painter, carpenter) and Helen as a nurse.
Now they have chosen Petford to set up their business in the hospitality and tourism trade. They do have an historical connection to Petford. Helen’s mother was born here.
After several years of hard work they have turned this old retired school ground into a comfortable escape for travellers who aim to experience the outback. Buildings have been beautifully restored and furnished and gardens with outdoor settings create an atmosphere that is relaxing for all of the family. And their vast collection of historical artefacts will entertain all ages.
They highly recommend children bring their bicycles because there is plenty of safe space for them to explore within and around the grounds.
